Welcome to my web site! My name Is Joan Valichnac and... I teach for The Learning Cornerstone and also the English department. The Learning offers college preparation classes in the areas of reading, writing and math along with study skills courses. The Learning Cornerstone also offers courses in Pre-GED and GED. We offer a FREE practice GED test to see if you are ready for the real thing or to let us know what you might need to study. The Learning Cornerstone (TLC) offers five levels of writing classes along with spelling courses to help you in your everyday or academic writing. The TLC has ten math classes ranging from the most basic in addition and subtraction to beginning algebra, preparing you for success in the math department. Sometimes people move to our area from foreign countries. When they do, The Learning Cornerstone can help them learn to speak English through our English as a Second Language program. They can also get ready for the United States Citizenship test. The Learning Cornerstone even offers classes to help those who are unable to read and write. The classes in the TLC are open entry. This means students can begin classes in the TLC any time during the semester. However, they must complete their courses by the end of the current semester. Don't let cost worry you. Many of the TLC courses are eligible for the PEL Grant, and most qualify for the ABE Scholarship. Contact me at The Learning Cornerstone or an advisor at the White Mountain Campus for more details.
