    ATTENDANCE:

Students are not penalized for completing the course early. Late work may be penalized. Grades for the course, however, will not be sent to the registrar’s office until the end of the semester. NPC computer labs are available to you during “open lab times.” Our lab assistants monitor these times. Open lab schedules are available right after the start of classes. All students must follow lab policies. Lab times and availability vary from campus to campus.  Call the college for assistance and a lab schedule.

You must contact me at least once a week.  If I do not hear from you for 3 weeks, you will be dropped.  All communication is by internet!  seittreim@npc.edu.  I am constantly checking Internet and answering students' emails.  I answer emails then go back and grade on a first-come-first graded basis.  I do all of my grading regardless of how many students I have.  You will always hear from me at least once a week with "weekly updates" so you are all aware of time in order to complete the course successfully.  I keep copies of all emails and any that have been returned as undeliverable so I know you do receive them.  If you email me and do not hear from me, be sure to check your 1) Junk Mail Box as sometimes good mail gets tossed in that, and 2) recheck your email address to make sure you do not have any typos in it.  It is your responsibility to stay in contact with me.

EVALUATION AND GRADING:

Grading will be based on the following:

bullet

Exercises:  1 pt. each.   You do not have to send these to me and you can check your exercises by looking on the CD for Exercises/solutions.  If you need help learning a concept or have trouble, then you need to email me and ask me so I can help you!

bullet

Chapter Summary:  An overview of what you completed in the chapter. Review these points. Make sure you can successfully complete each task. Review any parts of the chapter on any areas where you need extra help.

bullet

Commands Review:  A quick check of the commands learned in the chapter. You may want to add some of these to your notebook for later quick reference.

bullet

Reviewing Key Points:  1 pt. each. Completion and Matching are found at the end of each chapter. These problems are an excellent reinforcement in helping you understand the terminology described. You will send me the answers only to these questions in an email.

bullet

Applying Your Skills Assessments:  5 pts. each. These assessments are found at the end of each chapter. Points will be deducted for each error. After chapter 6 (spell check), spelling errors will also be deducted. You may look back into the chapter for help in completing these assessments; however, you may not ask me for help with these. These are based upon the work you completed in the chapter. If you were successful in completing the exercises, you should have no trouble with the assessments.   You will attach these to me in emails (WEBCT) so I can open and grade them.

bullet

Units 1-3 Performance Assessments:  10 pts. each. These are your course tests. Spell check and proofread each assessment, as points will be deducted for each error. You cannot ask me or others for help while completing these Performance Assessments.  You will send these to me as attachments to emails in WEBCT so I can open and grade them.

bullet

Resume Project: 100 pts. This will be a work in progress. Start early building your resume information (compile dates of past job experience, education, etc.) Sample resumes are attached. Utilize bolding, underlining, and various formatting techniques to create an easy-to-read, professional-looking representation of your job qualifications. You will attach this to email to me and I may give this assignment back to you several times for revisions. The goal is to have a document that is completely correct, and also one that you feel confident in giving to a potential employer.

bullet

Attendance/Participation: 2 pts. per week will be given for class attendance and participation.
