Teacher Education Program

The Teacher Education Program at Northland Pioneer College is offering an Associates of Arts in Elementary Education Degree  for students who want to enter into the career of education, as a classroom teacher or instructional assistant. This innovative program models the best practices of teacher education programs from around the country.

Highlights of the program:

The curriculum  for the AA degree in Elementary Education has been carefully crafted to provide the required courses for admission into an initial teacher certification program at a one of the 3 publicly funded state universities. When you complete the Teacher Education Program at NPC you will be able to transfer your 64 hours of college credit  to a university and enter as a junior.

Classes are student centered with project-based curriculum that combines content to better represent real life. You will experience the connection of content across the boundaries of specific classes, learning to apply and connect theory with application, truly learning what it is to be a teacher and acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge for your success.

A Learning Community.  Working together students build and participate in a learning community, supporting each other in their academic endeavors and building lasting relationships. NPC faculty and academic advisors provide ongoing guidance, academic counseling, support and encouragement to help “grow our own” teachers for the future of our communities.

ONE PROGRAM … MANY CHOICES.  The White Mountain Campus Teacher Education Program provides a  day program. Because not every future teacher can attend classes during the daytime, opportunities for teacher education classes are offered with the traditional flexible schedule options  at other campuses and times to give students maximum choice.
