Provides studetns with correct theory, safety and operations activities for proficiency with various types of equipment used in industry. Builds upon Level I training by introducing additional equipment predominantly for earthmoving operations. The main equipment types used in Level II are dump truck, scraper, loader and roller. Co-requisite: HQO 110. Two lecture, four lab.
Builds upon Level IIA training by introducing additional equipment for materials handling. Course also includes mathematic applications for excavation and grading as well as introductory activities in print and profile reading. Builds upon Level II training by introducing additional equipment for excavation and earthmoving. The main equipment types used in Level III are dozers, backhoes, and excavators. Course also includes activities in project control. Co-rerequisite: HQO 114. Two lecture, four lab.
Completes Level III training by introducing additional operational techniques, methods for finishing and final grading of earthworks, and the basics of soil science. Successful completion will lead to a Level 3 national certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Prerequisite: HQO 116. Two lecture, four lab.
Affords the student with the opportunity to select a specialty from among the various types of equipment and gain expertise in preparation for internship and work-based experiences. During the course the student also will conduct activities in management, supervision, and business operations. Additional competencies in industry-specific equipment or techniques will be explored. Prerequisite: HQO 118. Two lecture, eight lab.
